The Literacy Award ceremony is when ESL (English as a second language) students read their hand written essays in English
that they have prepared over the year with their tutors. These students work with their volunteer tutors each week and they
learn to communicate. Students come from many different countries to the United States without knowing how to speak English.
The Literacy Center gives them the opportunity to learn the English language.
